RAFIABAD, Dec 1: Describing the statement of former J&K Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Pak occupied Kashmir as most irresponsible, senior political leader and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that former Prime Minister of India and top Congress leader Late Jawahar Lal Nehru was mainly responsible for the division of J&K into two parts.
While addressing his supporters and workers during convention at Nowpora in Rafiabad today Vakil described the statement of National Conference patron and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah regarding the future of Kashmir as non- political and irresponsible.
Reacting sharply, Vakil said that no individual whether in power or out of power in Jammu and Kashmir can cook and present any solution alone. He said that disputed nature of the J&K stands internationally recognized and talks between India and Pakistan can bring out Kashmir out of decades old turmoil and destruction. Senior leader also said that Central leadership must display sincerity, magnanimity, seriousness and understand the importance of peace initiative, which is the only possible and acceptable way to resolve any contentious issue.
Former Minister highlighted that both India and Pakistan, major parties to the dispute, can’t demean or ignore the local populace of Jammu, Kashmir or Ladakh in resolving the issue as per their wishes. He said that if Govt of India or State Govt is sincere in bringing back normalcy in the State then they have to refrain from attaching pre-conditions with talks and include all stake-holders particularly Hurriyat and all mainstream parties in dialogue process so that exploitation of poor common masses in the name of Kashmir issue and grabbing power could be stopped.
Vakil further said that former Prime Minister Late Jawahar Lal Nehru was directly responsible for Kashmir conflict and dividing Jammu and Kashmir into two parts. He said that if Nehru at that point of time could have showed some foresight and maturity the situation would have been altogether different from the present. He blamed Nehru for escalating Kashmir issue and spoiling the future of paradise for ever.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Retd SSP Haji GM Dar, Ghulam Nabi Shah, Ghulam Ahmad Shagoo, Haji Mohammad Afzal Khan, Bashir Ahmad Shiekh, Sonaullah War, S Trilok Singh, Pt Brij Nath Nehru and Altaf Ahmad Khan.
