JAMMU, Sept 19: Nehru Market police arrested a thief along with stolen gold ornaments weighting 3.25 tolas.
As per police sources, on September 17, Tirath Singh, son of Raghunath Singh, a resident of Quarter Number 14-B, Old Nehru Market lodged a complaint with Nehru Market Police Post that some unidentified thieves barged into his room and decamped with gold ornaments weighing 3.25 tolas, when he had taken away his mother for medical check-up along with his wife.
Accordingly, a case under FIR number 203/14 under Section 454 and 380 RPC was registered and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, police picked up neighbour of the complainant identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Amar Nath of Quarter Number 14-B, Old Nehru Market.
During questioning, Vijay Kumar broke down and confessed to the crime. He was arrested and on his disclosure, stolen gold ornaments weighting 3.25 tolas were also recovered.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
Police team headed by Incharge Police Post Nehru Market Mohammad Iqbal Chagatta worked out this theft case under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Manzoor Ahmed Kohli, SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
