JAMMU, Apr 25: Veteran leader and former Tourism Minister Thakur Randhir Singh while addressing the media persons said it is very sad that Patnitop and Sanasar two major tourist resorts of Jammu region have been totally ignored by the Patnitop Development Authority since the authority was appointed.
Singh said it was during the time of Chief Minister Gulam Mohd Sadiq and Mir Qasim that he had taken the initiative as Tourism Minister, to develop Patnitop as well as Sanasar by providing the funds for construction of huts, electricity and other infrastructure from the Ministry of Tourism in early 70’s” .
The successive Governments have done nothing except appointing Patnitop Development Authority Singh regretted and said that after his resignation in 1975 under Indira- Sheikh accord this most important project has been neglected for the past 45 years .
Singh said by opening of Chenani -Nashri tunnel the flow of the people to these places has been affected very badly. Similarly the Yoga center announced by the Prime Minister at Mantalai where the single paisa has not been spent, the beautiful infrastructure was build by Late Dharendra Bramachari.
Singh also condemned the role of State Governments since 1975 for neglecting two famous tourist resorts Mansar and Surinsar and other tourist places like Machedi and Bani in District Kathua. The road infrastructure and particularly the oldest Shiva temple in North India at Billawar has not been properly preserved by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) it has been rather repaired.
