Sir,
Yoga International Day was observed recently. This is a great achievement for India and its people to make the world take cognizance of importance of Yoga. Despite her contributions in ancient past in other fields also, India till few centuries ago was generally recognized as land of sadhus and snake charmers especially to the western world. But it seems now the wrestler is coming out of the strangleholds and revealing its grit and intentions.
The way of life that yoga envisages has been widely accepted now. To make 170 countries part of this annual event is no less than a feat. Government deserves commendations. Despite political differences every Indian should feel proud that we gave a holistic philosophy to the world that gives equal importance to physical as well as spiritual wellbeing of the mankind.
But when we have a look at the present world scenario we find it full of suspicion, distrust, jingoism, hedonism, hegemony, turmoil and terror. World, badly embroiled in wars and conflicts is completely devoid of Moral and Ethical values. At individual level, people of the west by and large are truthful, believe and behave morality but their governments work solely for their selfish motives, bothering least for the general wellbeing of mankind. Outwardly they seem to push for the agenda for establishing democratic values but the end result tell us the situation they have landed the world in. Previouslythe two super powers were entangled in cold war, the threat of WW3 kept looming large over the world but now with Soviet Union gone, the fire of terrorism has started engulfing it. None of the countries in the world is safe and secure from this python of terrorism. Religions have virtually divided the humanitybut spirituality can definitely unite it. Those having sympathy for the mankind have to assert and come forward to save this world from this quagmire of deterioration and instability.
India has also a crucial role to play at this juncture. India gave a number of religious philosophies to the world, and morality has been at the core of its values. There is a dire need at this time that India pushes for another agenda that stresses morality, the basis of our dealings, understanding, cooperation, interaction and transactions among the nations. India has to take a lead here also. Morality will definitely get a boost when it is preached and propagated on the world forum as Save Humanity Day. Like International Yoga Day, there is need to push for celebrating -Save Humanity Day. Vichar Kranti Manch International has been striving for introducing morality in the curriculum at primary and secondary school levels. This will help in inculcating morality in one’s day to day life thus saving the world from further degeneration and degradation. Hope Government of India will accede to this request and approach world body to celebrate ‘Save Humanity Day’ on annual basis.
Yours etc….
