This has reference to the article ‘Necessity of AFSPA’ DE Aug 3.
The author Harsha Kakar has very well explained the necessity of AFSPA in the country. Much hue and cry is raised over its use or misuse. India at present is facing insurgency at many places. Though paramilitary forces are fighting. The insurgent as groups in very difficult circumstances, they too need some sort of protection from legal wrangles.
Rights activists have been demanding the repeal of AFSPA and replacing it with law that protects human rights and ensures accountability. Untill an alternative is found, it is suggested that the forces should never indulge in activities that can be termed as uncivilised or inhumane. They should conduct themselves gracefully and with restraint so that they are not accused of human rights violation.
It will earn the forces admiration and respect not only in the country but also in the whole world.
