Srinagar, June 5: Since its inception in 2018, the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK) has achieved a major milestone of carrying out nearly 25000 hemodialysis sessions under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Program (PMNDP).
As per officials, these sessions have been carried out across the health care facilities available in the district and have been made functional under the national dialysis program in a phase-wise manner.
The achievement has earned appreciation from the highest regulatory bodies of health care in the country and also gained the attention of teams of the Government of India.
Director of Health Services Kashmir, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather said they have been working hard to work in the direction and have left no stone unturned to make state-of-art dialysis service available in all districts, which, he said, has been recognized among the best-performing regions in the country.
“As of today, we have achieved a great feat of making all-district dialysis facilities functional and are providing safe and effective dialysis to the masses,” he said.
Director said that the hemodialysis services have been made accessible to the people and provided in the remotest corners for the benefit of the ailing patients, who, he said, otherwise used to travel hundreds of miles to get access to such specialized services earlier.
It is to be noted here that the National program is being funded by National Health Mission in J&K.
The Director while acknowledging the feat, congratulated the Nodal Officer in charge, dialysis program Dr. Nasir Shamas and all-district nodal in-charges along with all their associated teams for their tireless efforts over these years to make this milestone possible.
He said that immense efforts were made to make the dialysis program successful over these years and be recognized as the best performing sector under the PMNDP.
Dr. MA Rather thanked the Government and NHM for providing requisite funding and logistics for the implementation of the scheme.
Notably, J&K has been declared 100 percent achievers in PMNDP will all 20 districts covered under the program.
