JAMMU, Feb 23: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that nearly 20 lakh applications have been disposed off under Public Services Guarantee Act since the enactment of the Act till December 2013.
“J&K is among the pioneers in the country to enact the legislation guaranteeing the delivery of public services to the people in a time-bound manner”, the Chief Minister said, adding “initially, 45 services of six departments were notified under the Act but at presently 80 services belonging to 13 departments are being provided to the people under the Act”.
Chief Minister, in the written reply to the question of NC MLA, Abdul Gani Malik, informed the Legislative Assembly that the officers as well as the people are regularly sensitized about the duties and rights envisaged under the Act.
“For monitoring the implementation of the Act, a Public Services Management Cell has been constituted”, he added.
The departments whose services are under the ambit of the Act are CAPD, PDD, PHE/I&FC, Revenue, Transport, Housing and Urban Development, Industries and Commerce, Labour and Employment, PWD, Home, Health and Medical Education, Forest and Finance.
