JAMMU, Nov 18: Demanding the restoration of 4G internet services in J&K, National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) J&K president, Rajesh Gupta on Wednesday underlined the urgency of such services in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
The NDPI leader said everything was in place by the August last year when internet services were snapped on the basis of advisory of security agencies and this led to many problems.
“The present 2G internet services are not adequate for students attending online classes,” Gupta said adding that resumption of 2G services on mobile phones has made a mockery of the users as many sites are not accessed by this.
In a handout the NDPI leader said commercial houses, traders, businessmen, professionals and media fraternity have incurred heavy losses over the past 15 months in the absence of 4G internet services.
He threatened to launch an agitation if 4G services are not restored in J&K at the earliest.
Gupta asked why subscribers are being charged regular tariffs by telecom companies when they are not providing 4G internet services.
Questioning silence of BJP Jammu on this issue, he alleged that after assuming power, the BJP resorted to the policy of coercion and oppression.
