NDPI lambasts traffic police for failure to control road accidents

JAMMU, June 15: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) has expressed anguish and shock over traffic police in Jammu city fining and cutting challans on minor violations while failing to control rising deaths in road accidents.
In a statement issued today, NDPI chief Rajesh Gupta strongly condemning the Traffic Department for road accidents. He said, “Blood continues to be spilt as the UT recorded the highest number of fatalities in a decade last year but there is no seriousness and responsibility shown by administration on controlling number of road accidents occurring often”.
Gupta said as when they need revenue, Traffic police all of sudden starts fining and cutting challans of light motor vehicles in city and adjoining areas. He said this should be done it on routine basis not once in a while when they need revenue. He said buses, mini buses drivers and bikers should be dealt with iron hands and traffic cops should be more vigilant while on duty.
