JAMMU, June 2: Taking serious view of increasing killings in Kashmir and rising graph of militancy, Nationalist Democratic Party, J&K, urged the Union Government to withdraw present Lt Governor and replace with a top retired officer with Intelligence background and also remove DGP and IG Kashmir without any more delay.
In an emergency meeting of the executive committee of the Party held here today under the chairmanship of NK Atri, the members discussed the deteriorating security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The members observed that rising militancy graph and targeted killings of minority community members for the last several months has clearly indicated that security grid in the J&K UT has lost its grip on the system and its intelligence network has also virtually failed to provide warning signals/ credible inputs about such strikes.
They said the Lt Governor’s Administration has failed to restore confidence among the minority community employees and others residing in Kashmir valley. The situation is fast returning to that of post 1990 and fear psychosis has gripped the members of minority community and the tourists visiting Kashmir. After one month Shri Amarnath Ji yatra is also commencing.
Before it is too late, the Union Home Ministry must take an urgent call and replace the Lt Governor with a top administrator from Intelligence back ground, appoint at least four new Advisors including two locals and appoint new DGP in J&K and also replace IG Kashmir without any more delay. They alleged that corruption has also crossed all the limits and people are fed up with the prevailing system with least accountability and governance deficit.
Those present in the meeting included, RK Khajuria, Vijay Anand, JG Sharma, Ravinder Singh, Raj Kumar, Narinder Singh, DS Katoch and others.
