JAMMU, Apr 4: Nav Durga Kala Manch (regd.) staged a Hindustani Play, ” Dharama-Yodha” written and directed by Shashi Bhushan at Maa Durga Public School, village Pangali , Nagrota.
The Play was produced  in connection with the ongoing Play Festival on the 150th Commemoration of Swami Vivekananda organised by J & K  Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu. Yash Pal Nirmal was the Academy’s Official who monitored the staging of play.
The play is all about the search of Narendra, who later turned to Swami Vivekananda, for attaining truth. Doubts regarding existence of God started to arise in Narendra’s mind and made him associate with the Brahmo Samaj but it was not enough to satisfy his zeal to realize God. During this time Narendra came to know about Sri Ramakrishna Parmahans and after some questioning , he accepted him as his Guru. After the death of Sri Ramakrishna Parmahans, Narendra set out a long journey to cover the length and breadth of the country and came in close contact with the cultures of different regions and various classes of people in India. Vivekananda observed the imbalance in society and tyranny in the name of caste. He realized the need for a national rejuvenation if India was to survive at all. In 1893, Swami Vivekananda went to America to attend the Conference of world Religions in Chicago and earned wild applause for beginning his address with the famous words, ‘ Sisters and Brothers of America’. He spoke with spontaneous ease on every topic, be it History, Sociology, Philosophy or Literature. He Deplored the malicious propaganda that had been unleashed by the Christian missionaries in India. Thereafter, Swami Vivekananda started disseminating the message of spiritual development and enlightenment among Indians as well as for the people in the West. Later on, he established  Sri Ramakrishana Math at Belur and continued to tour west to spread the philosphy of Vedanta and died on July 4, 1902.
Deepak Jamwal played the character of  Swami Vivekananda while Dilshad Shazi acted as Sri Ramakrishna Parmahans. The  other Artists who performed in the Play included Kebbu Kabir, Neha Mehra, Kusum Jamwal, Raza Jatt, Ashish Bhatt, Sandeep Sharma, Bunty and Sanjay Kumar. Make up was done by Reetu Manhas while Music was given by Aditya Bhanu.
