JAMMU, June 24: The State unit of National Communist Party (NCP) has decided to fight upcoming State Assembly elections and put up the candidates with integrity, social and secular backgrounds.
This was disclosed during a meeting of the State election committee of NCP, held here under the chairmanship of former Minister and chief of NCP State unit, Thakur Randhir Singh to discuss the political situation in the State.
During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the State NCP will fight coming Assembly elections which are due in Jammu and Kashmir. It was also decided that the party will field candidates with integrity, social and secular backgrounds.
While addressing the committee, Thakur said there is a political vacuum in the State of J&K and space is available for the cadre of NCP which has secular and progressive background under the leadership of Sharad Pawar.
“The party has already collected the biodatas of Assembly candidates and more applications are being invited which will be screened by the election committee in the month of July”, he added.
The meeting also expressed concern over increase in freight charges of railways, which it said will badly affect the common man in the country, as price of consumable goods will become costly.
Kamal Gupta, Satpal Sharma, Dev Raj Sharma, R S Billowaria, Gulab Chand Bhagat, Gourav Kapoor, Tarsem Manhas, Prof P D Shastri, Prof G M Pal and many others attended the meeting.
