JAMMU, Dec 24: A Republic Day Contingent comprising of 101 NCC Cadets, representing all the three regions of Jammu and Kashmir, met N.N. Vohra, the Governor and Usha Vohra, the First Lady, at Rajbhavan today.
The NCC group was led by Major General Neeraj Verma, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate.
The Cadets presented several items of a colourful cultural programme which is part of the presentations which this contingent will make at the National Republic Day Camp at New Delhi. The Governor complimented the cadets on the high quality of the artistic items presented by them and wished the contingent high success in the various competitions in which it would participate at the Republic Day Camp.
The Governor observed that the NCC activities comprise a very important part of school and college education and said that the significant expansion in the NCC network in the past several years was a matter for great satisfaction.
On the occasion, Major General Neeraj Verma, Additional Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate, presented a welcome address and highlighted the achievements of the cadets during the year 2014. A vote of thanks was presented by Brigadier Sandeep Kala, Deputy Director General, National Cadet Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Directorate.
Rakesh K. Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Governor was present on the occasion.
