Srinagar, Dec 21: Opposition National Conference (NC) in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district today staged a protest against implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) Bill.
The NC workers led by District president Ghulam Mohiuddin Murran and former Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Nabi Ratanpuri took out a rally from party’s office in Pulwama Town and raised anti-government slogans. The protesters were demanding roll back of the NFSA, claiming it would deprive people of ration.
On the occasion, the NC District president Mohidin strongly opposed the reported proposal of government to handover Bajpathri to army for firing purpose and said it would have hazardous effects on environment. He said there are around 22 irrigation schemes which are dependent on the stream flowing from Bajpathri and if it is turned into firing range the schemes would be affected.
The NC workers also castigated Government over poor electricity scenario in the Valley and demanded uninterrupted power supply.
