NC remembers martyrs of July 13

JAMMU, July 13:  Rich Tributes were paid to martyr’s of 1931 at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu today. In this connection a function was held to observe Martyr’s Day  in which large number of National Conference workers participated and paid glowing tributes to the Martyr’s.
While addressing the gathering Rattan Lal Gupta Provincial President J&K National Conference Jammu province said that Martyr’s of 1931 sacrificed their lives for the cause of the democracy and freedom of press and speech. He asserted the movement at that time was not against any person or community it was against the system which was prevalent in those days not in J&K only but whole of the country.
Gupta said that Jammu Kashmir has a unique history and it has seen so many ups and downs in the past . However the National Conference leadership has remained the voice of the people of the state and fought for the democratic rights of the people of the State from its very inception, he added.
While paying tribute to the Martyr’s Sheikh Bashir Ahmad provincial Secretary said that the movement of 1931 was a historic movement and a turning point of Jammu Kashmir state. The National Conference leadership always fought for the democratic values and to uphold the traditional values of secularism and communal harmony under the tall leadership of its founder Sher-i- Kashmir Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah.  National Conference opted for leader India in 1947 when the country was under the grip of communal forces.
Two minutes silence was also observed for the souls of Martyr’s.
Those who paid  the tributes are Sheikh Bashir Ahmad Provincial Secretary, Laxami Dutta Provincial President Women Wing, Bimla Luthra MLA, Kashmira Singh, Haji Mohd Hussian Ex MLC, S.M Gill, Ex MLC, Rajesh Bakashi, Satpal Lokhotra , Mohinder Gupta , B.L Bhat Ex MLC , Pardeep Bali, Nar Singh, Rakesh Chib ,Rashida Begum, Dilshada Malik, Kuldeep Kour , Rekha Manhas, Satwant Kour , Balwinder Singh, Rakesh Singh Raka , Karan Singh, A.G Teli, Raj Kumar , Karan Singh , Sarooj Gupta , Sain Dass, Vinod Tak , Gurnam Singh, Ch. Shabir Ahmad.
