SAMBA, July 22: Senior National Conference leader and former Cabinet Minister SS Slathia has said that National Conference, being a premier political party of the State, has always sided with the people and upheld their cause whenever the State was in trouble. The historic decisions taken by the party from time to time for the betterment of the people are obvious and commendable, he added.
Mr Slathia said this while addressing a rally of National Conference workers, Panchs and Sarpanchs at Vijaypur today.
He said that the party has an important role to play in the resolution of Kashmir issue. He said that the proposal put forth by the party in the form of restoration of Autonomy to the State has been widely accepted. Erosion of Autonomy is the main cause of Kashmir discontent, he added.
Mr Slathia said that positive response about liberal financial support to J&K given by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during his recent visit to the State is highly appreciable.
Referring to the employment policy, Mr Slathia said that the comprehensive employment policy, “Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Policy for the Youth (SKEWPY)”, first of its kind in the country, has been formulated by the present Coalition Government, adding that its implementation/ has already started from April 1, 2010. A good number of unemployed youth have been benefited under the policy.
He urged upon the educated unemployed youth to come forward and take advantage of the financial and other benefits guaranteed under this policy.
