SRINAGAR, Sept 9: National general secretary and incharge of J&K and Ladakh Union Territories (UTs) of BJP, Tarun Chugh today reiterated that Modi Government is committed to bring peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir so that the UT becomes at par in the development sphere with other States and UTs of the country.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a party programme here today Chugh made a scathing attack on National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for exploiting the people of the Kashmir for decades together for their vested political interests.
Accusing the two parties of “looting” the resources of erstwhile State, he said their leaders created a wrong narrative always to mislead the people of the J&K. “The common man of Kashmir was exploited by creating a wrong narrative just to remain in power and amass huge wealth for their kith and kin,’’ he added.
Chugh said the BJP Government instead is committed for the welfare of the common man of J&K and it has taken steps to replace terrorism with tourism soon after Narendra Modi took over as PM in 2014. “Many development schemes and projects to give a complete facelift to J&K were taken up in hand by this Government so that the people of UT should not lag behind from other parts of country in progress and development’’, he added.
Chugh said the people of J&K have now realized through the game plan of dynastic parties like NC and PDP and they will no longer fall in their trap now nor they will trust them in future. The people of J&K trust BJP and it has emerged number one party in the UT, he said, adding NC and PDP have been relegated to second position.
He said Narendra Modi Government has won the faith and confidence of the people of Kashmir and people trust the PM who has created a hope among them by taking many positive steps in restoring peace in Kashmir which was marred by three decades long turmoil.
This is the result of Narendra Modi’s good work that for the first time in last 75 years any head of State visited the downtown and this shows that there is a discernible change in the ground situation in Kashmir where people also want that their children instead of guns should take computers in their hands and contribute for the development of the nation.
Chugh reiterated that the BJP Government is committed to zero tolerance on corruption and terrorism and he made it clear that anti national and corrupt elements will be dealt with seriously by the present Government.
He, while giving details of the fortnight long party programme starting from birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, followed by birthday of former Jana Sangh president Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay on September 25 and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Chugh said during this fortnight programme 2444 blood donation camps will he organised across the country by the volunteers of the party. Besides, many other public welfare programmes will also be held, he added.
Chugh along with J&K BJP general secretary, Sunil Sharma chaired a meeting of “Seva Pakhwada” (a fortnight of service) with party State office bearers and senior leaders earlier, to take stock of preparations for”Seva Pakhwada” starting from September 17, which will be Prime Minister Narendra  Modi’s 72nd birthday, to hold several events till October 2, Gandhi Jayanti .
Chugh said that the campaign will also be run to promote tree plantation and cleanliness, as well as make people aware of the need to conserve water and blood donation camps and health check-up camps will also be organised.
BJP leaders have been asked to propagate the welfare schemes of the Modi Government and also publicise the messages shared by crores of beneficiaries of such schemes.
Chugh asked party leaders to upload such messages on the NaMo App and also instructed them to promote the book Modi @20.
