NC organizes convention on 35A

DODA, Aug 21: To create awareness among the rank and file of the party on  Section 35A of Article 370 of Constitution of India, National Conference organized a day long convention cum workshop here at Town Hall.
The convention was attended by all the block presidents, secretaries and other office bearers and grass root workers of National Conference.
Addressing the gathering, Khalid Najib Suharwardy, former Minister and district president NC dwelled in detail the background which had necessitated the insertion of Section 35A in the Article 370 pertaining to the special status of J&K State. He said that forces inimical to the unique demographic and strategic position of J&K have been conspiring to erase the special status of J&K.
“Tinkering with Section 35A can be disastrous not only for the State but will open flood gate of controversies and unrest. It can set the entire subcontinent on fire” said suharwardy. He cautioned the Central Government not to take the risk of playing with fire to fulfill its ideology.
He said that abrogation of Section 35A would adversely affect all the communities and regions of the State.”A time will come when our very language and culture will cease to exist if Section 35A is removed” said Suharwardy. Adding that we will not only loose our lands and avenues of employment, but we will be losing our cultural legacy and language. He said that any move to play with the sentiments of the people of J&K will be resisted tooth and nail by National Conference at all levels.
Senior vice president Doda, Dr Riaz Bhaderwahi, former MLC Mohd Iqbal Batt, vice president Thakur Bachatar Singh, senior leader Zaffarullah Rather, Shadab Suharwardy (provincial youth secretary) and Dawar Peer (district youth president) also spoke on the occasion.
They urged upon the party cadre to remain vigilant and prepared for a decisive battle for safeguarding the special status of J&K.
