JAMMU, Mar 15: National Conference (NC) Minority Cell in its meeting here today held under the chairmanship of its working president, M K Yogi appealed the Government to construct more TRTs as large number of displaced people from Valley dependent on cash relief are still living in rented accommodations.
Mr Yogi made an appeal to the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister, Aijaz Ahmed Khan in this regard.
The meeting said as the number of quarters constructed by the Government was far less than the actual number of needy migrants living in the rented accommodations so it was very difficult to provide TRTs to every applicant among the 13,000 applications received by the Relief Organization for allotment of quarters.
The meeting demanded that at least 10,000 more quarters be constructed at Jammu immediately. It also stressed on renovation and modification of TRTs at Purkhoo and Nagrota camps.
The meeting also demanded that the lanes and drains be immediately constructed in the Jagti township in those areas where the allotments were made recently. It criticized those who challenge the recent allotments made by the Relief organization.
P L Talashi, Ashwani Bhat, Bittu Ji Bhat, Nana Ji Dammi, Avtar Krishan, Ramesh Bharti, Amit Koul, Bal Ji and Pinki Ji were present in the meeting.
