JAMMU, July 23: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference has deeply concerned with the prevailing situation in the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), which has unfortunately become a `den of corruption’, resulting in the severe failure in delivering essential public services to the citizens. The Party expressed its commitment to bring about positive change and address the poor working scenario of the JMC.
In a statement issued here today, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president JKNC, Jammu, said the new wards falling under the ambit of the Municipal Corporation are in a dilapidated condition, indicating a dire need for immediate attention and rehabilitation. He said the absence of proper garbage collection and management has resulted in an insanitary environment, affecting the health and well-being of the residents. Furthermore, the irregular supply of drinking water has added to the woes of the general public, he added.
The senior NC leader said that the imposition of Property Tax has been an additional burden on the already struggling citizens. However, we firmly assure the people that if the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference is voted to power in the upcoming Urban Local Bodies elections, the Party will roll back the Property Tax to ease the financial burden on the public and open modern health centres in all the wards of Jammu city.
“Our vision for the future of Jammu includes the establishment of new markets for small shopkeepers, creating opportunities for economic growth and prosperity. Additionally, we are committed to provide regular water supply to ensure a better quality of life for all citizens,” he emphasized.
“We will work tirelessly to create a city that is efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced, benefiting residents and businesses alike,” he added.
