JAMMU, Apr 18: National Conference leader and former MLA, Javed Ahmed Rana, today lashed out at the Government for not including any person from ST/OBC communities as member in the recently constituted Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Commission (SEBCC).
In a statement issued here Rana said, the decision of the Government to exclude members from ST/OBC communities shows the mindset of the present dispensation with which it is taking calls on such crucial matters.
“How are they going to address the problems faced by the population of these communities, when they are not giving them representation in the Commission,” Rana said, adding this shows that the Government was making mockery of the system by failing to give adequate representation.
“I have nothing to do with the current members of the commission, my only concern is that these communities should get their adequate share in the Commission, failing which the government will be responsible for whatever happens thereafter,” he added.
Rana further said that it is unfortunate to talk about other issues at a time when the world is passing through a critical phase, adding but it is also the duty of Government to not take any decision in haste.
He appealed the Government to take a decision in the matter at an earliest.
He also appealed to the Government to bring back home the workers stranded in different parts of the country.
“Every day we receive calls from our people stuck in different parts of the country and they continue to appeal for their evacuation. The Govt should not hesitate to bring back its own people from outside states,” Rana added.
