JAMMU, Jan 9: National Conference today expressed serious concern over continued political and Constitutional uncertainty in J&K after the demise of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and said a sensitive State like J&K cannot afford a Constitutional crisis or prolonged political uncertainty.
In a joint statement, NC provincial presidents Nasir Aslam Wani and Devender Singh Rana expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of former Chief Minister Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and especially PDP president and MP Mohtarma Mehbooba Mufti. “While we understand the grief and sorrow that the family and Mehbooba Ji must be going through, we are also seriously concerned over the prolonged constitutional crisis in the State as a result of the demise of a sitting Chief Minister. For a sensitive State like J&K, this raises a lot of apprehensions and concerns”, the NC provincial presidents said.
The NC leaders asked the two alliance partners PDP and BJP as well as the Governor’s Office to clarify on the Constitutional uncertainty in J&K without an indefinite delay. “Both PDP and BJP should provide unambiguous clarity on the taking over of the new Chief Minister and the Governor’s Office should also help in clearing this state of political uncertainty”, they said.
