NC establishes anti- democratic stance: Raman

JAMMU, May 31: The National Conference (NC) has once again proved that it doesn’t stand by democratic values. This is the reason it had asked its MPs to stay away from Delimitation Commission, set up to carry out delimitation in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri.
Raman Suri added, earlier also the National Conference (NC) had stayed away from Panchayat polls and prior to that, it allowed Jammu as well as Srinagar Municipal Corporations besides local bodies to lapse without holding elections to the same. Moreover, when erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir was limping back to normalcy, the National Conference(NC) boycotted the 1996 general elections, and chose to participate in the 1996 Assembly elections only after Prime Minister, H D Deve Gowda, promised “maximum autonomy” for Jammu and Kashmir.
The same NC also opposed the Block Development Council polls. With this history of poll boycott the NC has always proved that it doesn’t believe in democratic system and wants to rule people according to its own terms and conditions, by blackmailing the Union Government. This is the reason that Farooq Abdullah from Srinagar, Akbar Lone from Baramulla and Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi from Anantnag, who have been nominated to the Delimitation Commission by Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla, have decided to boycott in Commission Proceedings.
