NC, Cong leaders maintain distance

SRINAGAR, Sept 28: Ahead of forthcoming elections in State, the Ministers and Legislators of the two coalition partners of the State Government, National Conference and Congress, are maintaining distance from joint public appearances at various functions.
Today two major functions were held to lay foundation stones for two prestigious projects in the heart of Srinagar at Rambagh and Lal Chowk for Rs 351 crore Jahangir Chowk-Natipora flyover and Rs 31 crore Parking Lot at Lal Chowk. The functions were attended by NC Ministers and leaders only while Congress Ministers and leaders were absent.
Today’s main function at Rambagh was addressed by Legislators, Nasir Aslam Wani and Irfan Ahmad Shah in whose constituencies the flyover is coming up, while Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra, Chairperson Women’s Commission, Shamima Firdous, Legislators, Dr Mustafa Kamal, Mohammad Yasin Shah, Peer Afaq Ahmad and Ghulam Qadir Perdasi were present on the occasion.
These NC Legislators and Ministers later attended the function at Lal Chowk. However, Congress leader and Minister for Urban Development Rigzin Johra made a brief appearance.
Earlier last week when Union Health Minister and former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad laid foundation stone for Ayush hospital at Harwan in Srinagar, only Congress Ministers and leaders were present there. The local NC MLA, Mohammad Yasin Shah was the only person from the NC who attended the function while it was dominated by the Congress Ministers and leaders, who included Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Peerzada Syed, Shabir Khan, Khem Lata Wakhloo.
