‘NC-Cong alliance symbolizes stability, growth’

REASI Mar 27: Senior National Conference and Congress leaders today castigated BJP for pursuing divisive and destructive agenda, saying the party has no role in Jammu and Kashmir that believes in cohesiveness, peace and harmony with equal opportunities of progress to all  .
Addressing joint election meetings for the alliance candidate Ghulam Nabi Azad in Jammu-Udhampur Constituency at various places in Reasi this afternoon, they said that the progressive and forward looking people of the State have always rejected reactionary forces having myopic vision and vicious agenda.
The leaders including Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana, Minister of State for Revenue, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Surjeet Singh Slathia, Abdul Gani Malik and Jugal Kishore exuded confidence about big win for Azad, saying this is imperative for marginalizing the elements hell bent to disturb the communal fabric and destabilize democratic institutions in the State.
The leaders cautioned the people against elements striving for abrogation of Article 370 and trampling of the permanent residence laws saying they were hoodwinking the public opinion by playing communal card. In this context, they drew the attention of people towards secret understanding of BJP with PDP with a sinister motive of working complimentary and supplementary to the interests of each other.
Mr Rana said the people of the State are sagacious enough to differentiate between treachery and sincerity. “BJP has never been straight forward towards the State which is discernible by the fact that it has always created stooges, in one form or the other, to execute its vicious agenda”, he said while exposing its unholy bonhomie with PDP.
He said the State has steered to an era of stability and peace after undergoing a phase of trauma and nobody will be allowed to vitiate it by resorting to rhetoric and playing with sentiments of the people.
The Provincial President said the BJP will get a befitting reply with the alliance candidate registering a magnificent victory.
Aijaz Khan, while addressing the gathering, cautioned the people against mischievous propaganda being unleashed by the communal forces to divide the people of the State.
Mr Khan decried the clandestine nexus between communal BJP and opportunistic PDP, saying their joining hands was dangerous for the single entity and pluralistic character of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister also referred to the hidden agenda between BJP and PDP, saying their bonhomie brought the two regions of the State eyeball to eyeball situation in 2008 disturbances and last year’s unfortunate happenings in Kishtwar.
Senior State Vice President NC and MLA Mr Surjeet Singh Slathia described the BJP as obstructionist outfit, saying its hidden understanding with PDP is aimed at destabilizing the state which has come out of the dark tunnel due to sincere efforts of the coalition government led by Omar Abdullah.
Mr Slathia urged the people to defeat these dubious forces by facilitating the success of Mr Azad in a big way.
Former Minister and senior NC leader, Abdul Gani Malik, while exhorting people to cast their vote for the alliance candidate, said this will be support to the progressive and forward looking policies of Omar Abdullah. He dwelt in detail the strides made by the present Government for uplift of people, undertaking development, empowering people and spreading education.
“If this tempo is to be maintained, there is need for strengthening the hands of the coalition government”, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, senior Congress leader and MLC Jugal Kishore castigated BJP and PDP for raising obnoxious and frivolous issues to hoodwink the people. He said PDP’s existence is based on deceit and BJP has been exploiting optimally the weakness of its leadership for power.
