NC committed to passage of Shrines Bill: Dr Beg

JAMMU, Feb 28: National Conference (NC) senior leader and MP, Dr Mehboob Beg today reiterated his party’s commitment regarding the passage of Kashmiri Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill.
Dr Beg who was addressing a KP delegation here,  said that his party fully supports the demand and it is for the preservation and protection of Hindu shrines in Valley which are also the cultural monuments.
He said the Government will come up to the expectations of the community by giving its nod to the Bill in ongoing budget session of the Legislature to make it a law as the Law Minister ahs also made an announcement in this regard and made the Government’s stand known and clear.
He also appealed the Pandits to extend full support to his Party and Chief Minster, Omar Abdullah in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
It may be recalled that Dr Beg is the first politician in the State who supported the Bill and on whose insistence the then leader of Opposition, Abdul Rahim Rather tabled the Bill in the Assembly but the Government at that time assured that it will bring an official Bill in this regard.
