NC commands people’s confidence: Farooq

SRINAGAR, Mar 18: National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar, Dr Farooq Abdullah today stressed that NC commands people’s confidence and awe as a consequence of good work which it has rendered in shape of elevating people from despondency to prosperity.
He was interacting with scores of delegations from across Kashmir, which called on him at his residence to greet him on his release. The delegations comprising of workers, party functionaries, delegates and civil society groups from Handwara, Qazigund, Amirakadal, Baramulla, Noorabad, Pulwama, and Bandipura.
Addressing the visiting delegations, Farooq Abdullah thanked all those who had thronged his residence. While extolling the enthusiasm of party functionaries, workers and others he said, “Our idea of politics is shorn of all biases. We will continue to be a friend to people. The socio-political emancipation of poor and downtrodden has been the corner stone of our politics. Ours is a people’s party, a true representative of people’s aspirations and dreams, a party which has given platform to all without any discrimination. Our idea of politics is inclusive.”
Expressing gratitude to the visiting delegations, NC President said that he was appreciative of the love and affection that he had received from people. “I express my gratitude to all who prayed for me. I am overwhelmed with the support we have received from the people. The enthusiasm of workers and delegates is indeed elevating,” he added.
Among others, who met the party president, included Sakina Itoo, Ghulam Hassan Rahi, Master Abdul Aziz Mir and Mustaq Ahmad Guroo.
Meanwhile, Dr Farooq Abdullah also paid tributes to NC veteran and former Speaker of J&K Legislative Assembly, Wali Muhammad Itoo on his 25th death anniversary. The NC President said that Late Ittoo shall be remembered for his people friendly disposition. “A true friend of people, he sacrificed his life for the principles he held high. He cherished the ideals of democracy, human dignity and public cause throughout his life. He tirelessly worked for the benefit for his people and constituency,” he said.
