VIJAYPUR, Dec 1: Continuing election campaign in his constituency, former Minister and contesting candidate from Vijaypur Assembly seat Manjit Singh criticized Government of India for returning package sent by the J&K Government for displaced persons who have been suffering negligence since decades.
Manjit Singh as a part of intensified campaign visited Barota camp, Govindgarh, Rarri, Ramloo Brahmana, Duna Chak, Mean Sarkar and other areas of Vijaypur assembly seat seeking support from the people ahead of Assembly polls.
Singh while interacting with the displaced persons said that Congress Ministers and he himself had made hectic efforts for the package which was sent to the centre for its approval so that the displaced persons could get support.
However, the package was turned down deliberately with political motives. “Earlier, it was National Conference which created hurdles and delayed process of sending package to the centre even as then UPA Government had assured all help,” Singh reminded.
He said that though the package was finally sent to the centre but it again faced discrimination from the BJP led NDA Government in Delhi.
“They returned the package only keeping in view political gains. They tried to divide the affected people for vote bank politics,” he said, while alleging the people should remain aware of the divisive politics being played by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).
