NAGROTA, Nov 15: Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today said that politicians can’t afford to take public for ride by indulging in rhetoric and populism, as they judge their representatives on the basis of their actions and not words.
“Trust deficit is a big challenge for politicians, which they will have to surmount by keeping up commitments”, Mr Rana said while addressing several election meetings in Nagrota Constituency.
Mr Rana was accompanied by National Conference leaders Ch Mohammed Alam, Som Nath Khajuria and Block President Rameshwar Dutt Sharma.
He said success of politicians lie in their comprehension of understanding genuine problems of the people and come up with answers to redress these in a time bound manner. “Sloganeering and false promises have terribly marred the credibility of those in public life, which should be a cause of concern for the politicians”, he said while stressing the need for corrective measures by promising what is achievable.
Referring to his vision of converting Nagrota as a model constituency, Mr Rana said it is a mission which he believes can be achieved with the support of people and sincerity of purpose. He made a mention of effort made in the past few years across the constituency and said the people can judge for themselves by measuring the schemes implemented for laying a sound developmental edifice across Nagrota.
The Provincial President, who is NC candidate for the constituency, said that the works executed over the years in different sectors were discernible which have instilled hope among the people about holistic development of Nagrota. He said in his capacity as Member Legislative Council, he has endeavoured to meet the most needed services in a time bound manner.
Mr Rana assured the people that given their support he will transform the developmental profile of Nagrota in next six years. “The potential of the constituency is required to be explored optimally”, he said, adding that being in the close vicinity of the capital city there was immense scope for Nagrota to become a modern satellite township. “What I have been talking about Nagrota to be transformed into Nava Jammu is an agenda to be pursued and accomplished in next six years”, he asserted.
Referring to the challenges confronted to the state, the Provincial President said that these can be met by having a strong and stable Government in the state which will be fully accountable to the people for failures as also successes. In this context, he made a mention of frivolous propaganda unleashed by Congress blaming National Conference for shortcomings and taking credit for all the good done by Omar led Government during the past six years. “The trend of shifting blame will come to end when the state gets a stable Government”, he maintained.
Mr Rana gave an overview of the achievements registered in various sectors of development under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and said this journey will gain further momentum in the next six years. He hoped that people will again repose their trust in National Conference by voting its candidates to victory with a huge margin.
