Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, May 30: National Conference Women Wing, State vice president Bimla Luthra (Ex-MLA) today called for greater involvement of women and weaker sections in decision making, saying this is imperative for harmonious growth of the society.
Addressing workers at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this afternoon, Mrs Luthra said that National Conference has all along worked for empowerment and emancipation of these segments of the society and will continue to do so with a sense of commitment.
She said that National Conference has always remained in the forefront to ensure social justice and welfare of marginalized segments of the society. In this context she referred to the landmark Land Reforms Act brought by Late Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah and said this benefitted the weaker sections of society—the peasants, the backward classes, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe—the most.  She said National Conference reflects the urges and aspirations of the marginalized segments of the State.
Mrs Luthra urged the workers to work for strengthening the party at grass roots level and promote its cherished agenda of inclusiveness and regional unity.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included, Rita, Neelam, Prito, Jyoti, Tilki, Rani, Shakutla, Radha, Gita, Savita, Nitu, Ritu, Rajni and others.
