Speaking to reporters here, NC chief spokesperson and Zadibal MLA Tanvir Sadiq said the NC party had appointed an authorised agent during the Rajya Sabha polls to verify votes, indicating that the PDP had not done so.
“We had designated an agent who checked the votes, and everything was shown to him,” Sadiq said.
“I want to make it clear that Mehbooba Mufti, along with her three members, should place their hands on the Quran and swear that they did not vote for the BJP. If they do so, I will take back my comments.”
Sadiq also blamed the PDP’s 2014 alliance with the BJP for the abrogation of Article 370 and 35A.
“Had they not gone with the BJP in 2014, it would not have happened,” he said.
Commenting on broader political developments, the NC leader said electoral outcomes in states such as West Bengal, Assam and Tamil Nadu showed that voters can produce unexpected results and cannot be taken for granted.
