Navratras conclude with Kanjak Poojan, immersion of Saakh

JAMMU, Apr 13: On conclusion of holy Navratras today, ceremonial ritual of Kanjak Poojan and immersion of Saakh in flowing water were performed across Jammu region.
There was heavy rush of people on left bank of Tawi river near the bridge where hundreds of devotees were seen immersing holy Saakh in the flowing water. Some volunteers of social organizations were there offering help to the devotees and urging them not to throw polythene carry bags in the water. These volunteers collected the polythene and other material for disposal of the same at somewhere else for avoiding pollution in the Tawi water.
Saakh immersion in flow water was also witnessed at several other areas including, Jhelum in Akhnoor, Basantar river in Samba, canal in Jammu Devika in Udhampur.
Earlier in the morning, Kanjak Poojan was performed in all the houses where little girls were worshipped by offering them Puri-Chana, Halwa along with red colour Chunnis and some money.
Reports from Samba said that huge rush was witnessed in the historic Chichi Mata temple where the devotees paid their obeisance. Long queue of the devotees were witnessed since early morning right from the main entrance till the temple.
The temple was given a decorated look with flowers and lights for festivities dedicated to incarnations of Goddess Durga.
