Navratra Festival at Lakshmi Narayan Temple concludes

JAMMU, Oct 22: The First Navratra Festival,  hosted by Shri Lakshmi Narayan Temple Management Trust, Gandhi Nagar,  concluded here last night with religious fervour and zeal.
Held in the premises of the temple, the Trust took this initiative to create appropriate religious environment and strengthen the moral values in the society besides promoting the cultural heritage of Dogras.
The Dandiya dance by hundreds of devotees- children, girls, men and women besides renowned artists, many of them dressed in traditional costumes, portrayed a sense of togetherness in the backdrop of Goddess Durga temple which was a grand finale of 9-night festivity.
The concluding celebration was marked by Kahn-Sakhian, a dying Jammu tradition. A group of small girls dressed as Goddesses blessed the devotees who religiously offer respect as they do to the deity. It was a measure to revive this culture, special to Navratras. Uma Katal was the event manager.
The IGP BSF, Rakesh Sharma was the chief guest of the concluding show. He  distributed mementos to  artists on the occasion. Among others, the ADG, Dilbagh Singh also witnessed the show.
Speaking at the concluding ceremony, president of the Trust, Th  Gulchain Singh Charak lauded the contribution of young artists of the schools, and many other participants who  made the Festival a grand success. He said that encouraged by the response and success, the Trust would like to institutionalize it and it would be organized every year in much improved and better form.
