JAMMU, Mar 22: National Awami United Party (NAUP) has flayed the LG administration for putting up hoardings claiming Jammu as City of Educational Institutions and has said that it should rather be City of Temples which is a fact.
Addressing a press conference here today Sandeep Singh, NAUP president talked about the cultural significance of Jammu as City of Temples which gives it a unique identity across India.
He claimed that calling Jammu as City of Educational Institutions might be a marketing ploy but it should not be at the cost of cultural identity of Jammu.
Singh also flayed the administration on liquor policy under which scores of liquor vends have been opened in Jammu against the cultural ethos of Jammu.
“Highlighting Jammu as City of Educational Institutions instead of City of Temples might be because of guilt of flowing liquor into Jammu,” he maintained adding that the administration should desist from such illogical and irrational steps otherwise NAUP may start agitation.
Roping in RSS, he said that as the RSS claims itself a cultural and social organisation, so it should take a cognisance against such attempts to change the cultural identity of Jammu and hurting sentiments of Hindus.
He also expressed concern over the silence of JMC Mayor over the development.
