SRINAGAR, Sept 6 : The eleventh show of the Bhand Pather series being organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi and Natrang, Jammu reached to it’s high point when the star performer of Kashmiri Bhands- the real crowd puller, Mohd. Sadiq vibrated the audiences at Hardushoor (Tangmarg) with his magic of ultimate histrionics.
The occasion was the presentation of Baba Reshi Folk Theatre’s play ‘Naag Gaad’ written and directed by the lead actor Mohd. Sadiq himself. Appreciating his way of performance, Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur said that Kashmir is yet to see a dynamic traditional actor like Mohd. Sadiq who through his spontaneity has given a new dimension to the tradition of Bhand acting styles.
His play came out to be a biggest satire on the people who politicize global happenings here. Kashmiri society is easily swayed by the false propaganda. If something happens somewhere on earth, one finds Kashmir is crying for that but back home fail to address their own family problems. This tendency of the people have created lot of space for the bad elements who easily exploit them to settle their own political scores.
The story revolves around a family which is more concerned about the issues of the outside world but hardly have time to address domestic issues. The head of the family has all knowledge about the wards of his neighbors but hardly have any whereabouts of his own children. The maskhara’s created interesting caricatures which were responded by repeated laughters and applauses. The artists who deserves kudos for their slick performance include Mohd. Sadiq, Bilal Ahmed, Muneer Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed, Abdul Rashid, Riaz Ahmed, Mohd. Subhan, Ghulam Ahmed, Ghulam Mohd. Ghulam Hassan and Hayat Bhagat.
Earlier in the day, the village Makhmama, Budgam witnessed a thought provoking Bhand play ‘Azuk Samaaj’ written by Abdul Salam Bhat and directed by Mohd. Akram Bhat which was staged by Sheesh Mahal Folk Theatre.
The Bhand actors and musicians who participated in the play include Mohd. Akram, Mohd. Aslam, Ghulam Ahmed, Abdul Majeed, Mohd. Hayat Bhat, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Bashir Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed, Abdul Rashid, Muzaffer Ahmed, Mushtaque Ahmed and Maqsood Ahmed.
This 20 show series has been conceptualized, designed and being coordinated by Natrang Director Balwant Thakur who is assisted by Mohd. Yaseen, Manzoor-ul-Haq and Shah-e-Jahan Ahmed Bhagat.
