Natrang presents Hindi play ‘The Uncrowned Poet’ at Abhinav Theatre

JAMMU, Sept 9: Natrang presented a Hindi play ‘The Uncrowned Poet’ based on the life of Sahitya Academy Awardee legendary Dogri writer Kunwar Viyogi here today at the Abhinav Theatre, Jammu in the International 8th Kunwar Viyogi Utsav.
The play has been written by Aarushi Thakur Rana and was ably directed by the young budding theatre Director Gauri Thakur.
The play ‘The Uncrowned Poet’ was a dramatic portrayal of the events which transcribed in the life of the famous Dogri poet Randhir Singh Jamwal, creatively known as Kunwar Viyogi. The performance highlights the personal trials and tribulations of an aspiring poet, a passionate lover, a benevolent brother and a loving son. Kunwar Viyogi is the embodiment of perseverance, highlighted by the enormity and inevitably of his journey from an ambitious poet who forsakes his creativity to serve his country as an Airforce Officer.
The challenges of a military career failed to abstain from the creative process of Kunwar Viyogi, as did the untimely demise of his parents and wife. Rather than succumbing to what was a chain of tragic events, heartbreak and the additional responsibility of providing parental care for his younger siblings only catalysed Kunwar Viyogi’s work and elements of his hardships are clearly evident in his poetic literature.
The Artists who gave engrossing performances and won the appreciation of the audiences included Neeraj Kant as Kunwar Viyogi (Old), Raghunandan Singh Charak as Kunwar Viyogi (Young), Sanket Bhagat as Kunwar Viyogi (Child), Meenakshi Bhagat as Prem Jamwal, Chirag Anand as Poorakh Singh Jamwal, Palshin Dutta as Pushpa Devi, Diksha Pandita as Poonam Singh Jamwal, Priyal Gupta as Young Poonam Singh Jamwal, Sheryaar Salaria as Senior Officer, Radhika Sharma as Saheli, Kananpreet Kaur as Doctor and Mehak Singh as Sister. Others who performed as chorus and various characters in the play, included Sumit Bandaral, Abhimanyu Choudhary, Nikhil Sharma, Harsh Dogra, Vishal Bhat and Chaitanya Shekhar.
The lights of the play were designed and directed by Pankaj Sharma whereas the music of the play was scored by Sushant Singh Charak. The properties of the play were made by Shivam Singh and the hall management was looked after by Mohd. Yaseen and Mahikshit Singh.
The presentations were done by Bindya Raina Tickoo.
