JAMMU, June 4: Natrang in its weekly Sunday theatre series presented a new devised comedy play in Hindustani ‘Hera-Pheri’ which was directed by Aarushi Thakur Rana.
Beautifully, dramatically structured and fast-paced, this play revolves around the story of a servant named ‘Mallu’ who leaves his village to work at an aristocrat’s family. As the time passes he gains the trust of the mistress of the household and becomes the apple of her eyes. He starts to use this to his advantage and abuses his power. Seeing his popularity the rest of the people in the house get jealous and decide to teach him a lesson. Knowing Mallus gullible nature they plan a plot to befool him. They all know that he has feelings for the mistress so use this to blackmail him. In the end he gives in to the plot of the housemates and is thrown out of the house of the mistress. This play symbolises the nature of every household and the power politics that persists in homes. Everyone wants to be on the top of the ladder which leads them towards unfair means. The play being a comedy is a satire on the society which makes people mere puppets in the search of money and fame.
The actors who gave engrossing performances and won appreciation of all included Mahikshit Singh, Jyoti Kant Sharma, Brijesh Avtar Sharma, Vrinda Sharma, Gopi Sharma, Sanket Bhagat, Mihir Gujral and Abhee Bargotra. The lights were designed by Neeraj Kant Sharma and the music was designed by Bhisham Gupta.
