CHANDIGARH, July 29: Natrang Jammu staged two shows of Balwant Thakur’s Hindi plays ‘Aap Hamare Hain Kaun’ bychildren at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh.
Natrang team which reached here this morning from Jammu had to perform two shows as the hosts could not accommodate the great demand of this remarkable play in one show. Presentation of Natrang’s ‘Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun’ written and directed by Balwant Thakur in Chandigarh also marked the conclusion of Chandigarh Children Theatre Festival organised by Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi.
The major attraction of the show was the lead performance by Vrinda Gujral who won Sabse Bada Kalakaar on Sony TV in addition to the mind blowing performances by a team of 20 young actors of Natrang Jammu who received standing ovations from the elite Chandigarh audiences.
The play shakes parents, educationists and guardians of society out of reverie of materialism, consumerism and unbridled desires. This play compels elders to look around and clear the mess they have created due to their own amorous ambitions. Parents see in their children an extension of their unfulfilled dreams and force them to become stereotypes and kill bountiful charm in them. In a pursuit to make them doctors, engineers and IAS, they are subjected to every kind of cruelty. The children become mechanical and hardly get time to discover their real self.
The Children who performed brilliantly and won the hearts of theatre lovers of Jammu included Gopi Sharma, Sanchita Dubey, Sanyam Gupta, Shreya Gupta, Agam Kaur, Mihir Gujral, Vrinda Gujral, Sanya Gupta, Asma Gul, Ayn Bhola, Chirag Anand, Saanvi Anand, Riya Jandial, Saba Jamwal, Sumedha Manhas, Satyam Mehra Vedhant Suri, Sanket Bhagat, Ananya Verma and Rudra Kohli.
The music of the play was scored by Anil Tickoo and Sanjeev Gupta rendered rhythm in the play.
