JAMMU, Nov 2: ‘Nahi Magar Haan’, a new hilarious comedy play in Urdu, written by Shaukat Thanvi and directed by Neeraj Kant, was presented here today at Natrang Studio theatre in Sunday Theatre series.
The play opens at the home of one ‘Shahid’ who is a very intelligent and talented poet but is often underrated by his wife and father-in-law who not even discourage him but also ridicule him for his art. He is busy writing a new creation as has recently lost his job and wants to utilize his time creatively, but his wife and father-in-law tell him to find a new job instead of wasting time in writing poetry which will fetch him no money. In the meanwhile, ‘Tariq’ his friend arrives with a very good news that a famous newspaper house in Delhi which acknowledges and encourages genuine talent is very much impressed by Shahid’s writing and wants to offer him a very high position in their office and the salary would be beyond his imagination if he agrees to accept their proposal. This news was not digested by his chronic critics who consider this offer as fake and unrealistic as they undermine Shahid’s worth. This satirically hilarious situation continues till the end of the play when eventually postman arrives with a letter with the same rewarding proposal.
Though in comic manner, the play unfolds a very common situation that no matter what the world thinks of us, those who are close to us would hardly understand our worth unless and until they are willing and their wisdom is not clouded.
Natrang actors who performed in this well designed play, included Rajan Thakyal as Mirza Sahab, Sachin Bamba as Tariq, Susheel Raina as Shahid and Namrata Chib as Rehana. The show was coordinated by Mohd Yaseen whereas Kritika Singh did the presentations.
