National seminar on Future of Libraries concludes at JU

Jammu, Mar 16: The valedictory function of the two days national seminar on Future of Libraries: Trends, Issues and Challenges (NASOFOL-2016) was organized today at the University of Jammu. The event was organized by Department of Library and Information Science, University of Jammu and was sponsored by ICSSR, NewDelhi.
Professor Sangita Gupta, Head, Department of Library and Information Science and organizing secretary of the event welcomed the guests and looked forward for them in the future events also. Professor Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu presided over the function. Other dignitaries present were, Professor S.M.Shafi, University of Kashmir and Dr. Rajeev Vij, Additional Director, DESIDOC.
Professor Poonam Dhawan stressed on the importance of books and envisioned a bright future of libraries in catering the needs of academic community. She laid stress on books as channels of human development.
Professor S. M. Shafi discussed various aspects of future libraries and stressed on the practical approaches to be adopted for the sustenance of future libraries.
Dr. Rajiv Vij in his speech appreciated the efforts in providinga platform for young and dynamic library professionals. Dr. Sumeer Gul, University of Kashmir presented the report of the seminar.
Dr. Samita Wadhera carried on the deliberations of the event and Dr. Meghna Dhar presented a vote of thanks. In the end, the feedback of the participants was documented which made the event more interactive and vibrant.
