JAMMU, Dec 14: National Lok Adalats were held at Pulwama and Udhampur.
PULWAMA: National Lok Adalat was held here. Justice Ali Mohammad Magray inaugurated the event in presence of Justice Husnain Masoodi, Chief Judicial Magistrate Abdul Majeed Dar, Additional Sub Judge Virender Singh Bahoo, Munsiff Judge Junaid Imtiyaz Khan, Special Mobile Judge Muzaffar Iqbal Khan and large number of senior officers from the district administration and police.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Magray said that introduction of the Lok Adalat added a new chapter to the justice dispensation system and succeeded in providing supplementary forum to the victims for satisfactory settlement of the disputes. “The institution of Lok Adalat in India, as the very names suggests means ‘people court’ and certainly proved to be very effective, litigant friendly and less expansive mechanism to resolve disputes”, he added.
He explained the system of Lok Adalat and said that it is not only helpful to the disputing parties but also to the over burdened courts to achieve the constitutional goal of speedy justice.
He stressed upon lawyers and jurists to speed up the disposal process so that people get justice in time.
In this connection, four courts were held under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge and 6687 cases were presented before them, out of which as many as 6451 cases were resolved amicably.
UDHAMPUR: National Lok Adalat were held under the chairmanship of Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur RS Jain in which four benches comprising of Sonia Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Udhampur, Kusum Pandita, Sub Judge, (CJM) Udhampur, Rajni Sharma, Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur, Susheel Singh, Munsiff (JMIC) Udhampur, Prem Sagar, District Mobile Magistrate (T), Geeta Kumari, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur and Shashi Kumar advocate were constituted in Udhampur. At Ramnagar, the bench was headed by Renu Dogra, Munsiff and at Majalta by Touseef Ahmed Magray.
As many as 6436 cases were disposed off and an amount of Rs 4.75 crore was settled/realized which include compound money.
