National Legal Services Day celebrated across J&K UT

JAMMU, Nov 9: National Legal Services Day was celebrated across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
JAMMU: District Legal Services Authority under the aegis of J&K State Legal Services Authority celebrated National Legal Services Day today in the conference hall of District Court Complex Janipur, here under the chairmanship of RK Wattal, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Jammu which was attended by Judicial Officers, Public Prosecutors, Additional Public Prosecutors, Police Officers, Advocates, Senior Citizens and Para Legal Volunteers. Secretary District Legal Services Authority Naushad Ahmed Khan in his inaugural address gave a brief introduction about the aims, objectives and importance of National Legal Services Day and made the people aware about the various provisions under the Legal Services Act and Rights of the litigants.
Chairman District Legal Services Authority RK Wattal, highlighted the important schemes introduced by NALSA for providing Legal Aid and the utility of the Lok Adalats and also highlights the provisions of Legal Services to weaker sections of the society. He laid emphasis on Legal Literacy and increase Legal Awareness amongst the masses, who live in far off areas and amongst the weaker sections of the society. It is a reassurance that opportunities for securing justice are not denied to any citizen by reason of economic or other disability, he added.
On the occasion, Bala Jyoti, Registrar Rules High Court of J&K, Kikar Singh Parihar, Presiding Officer, MACT, Jammu, Tahir Khursheed Raina, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Jammu, Advocate Jyoti Sharma, Master Trainer, Advocate Ranjit Singh Jamwal, Amit Gupta and Senior Citizen from Ahata-e-Waqar and PK Choudhary also expressed their views.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Slahuddin Ahmed, Additional Mobile Magistrate, (Traffic) Jammu. Secretary DLSA Jammu presented the formal vote of thanks.
UDHAMPUR: National Legal Services Day was celebrated here today under the chairmanship of Mohan Lal Manhas, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur. A legal awareness camp was organized in which a large number of people participated.
Secretary DLSA Sandeep Kour, members of Beopar Mandal, Sarpanch Sushma Kundal Administrative Officer Gopal Gupta, Section Officer Chaman Sharma and Pannel Lawyer Sanjit Bavouria and a large number of people from all walks of life were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman DLSA Mohan Lal Manhas threw light on the importance of the day.
Secretary DLSA highlighted various free legal aid scheme and appeal needy to take benefits from these schemes.
A cultural programme was also presented by school children on the occasion. Certificates of participation were alss distributed among children by DLSA Chairman.
RAMBAN: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) today celebrated National Legal Services Day in District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kishore Kumar who is also the Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Ramban.
On the occasion, a plantation drive was launched by the Chairman DLSA and planted a fruit sapling in the premises of district court. A legal awareness camp besides a Lok Adalat was also held in which 50 cases were taken and 4 cases were decided.
The plantation drive was attended by Secretary District Legal Services Authority, Amit Kumar Sharma, Range Officer Ramban, President and members of the Bar Association.
Legal Awareness Camp was addressed by the Chairman DLSA, Secretary DLSA, President Bar Association, TH Malik, Retainer Lawyers, Para Legal Volunteers and a large number of respectable persons.
REASI: District Legal Services Authority under the chairmanship of Kamlesh Pandit Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Principal District and Sessions Judge Reasi celebrated National Legal Services Day today in District Court Complex here. On the occasion a Legal Awareness Camp and Lok Adalat were conducted. The camp was attended by Kamlesh Pandit Chairman District Legal Services Authority Reasi, AS Langeh, Sub-Judge Chief Judicial Magistrate Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Reasi, Anjum Ara, Secretary (Sub Judge), District Legal Services Authority, Reasi, Rimpi Rani, Munsiff JMIC Reasi, Assma Choudhary, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Reasi, President Bar Association and Members, Para Legal Volunteers and a large number of litigants.
On the occasion a Lok Adalat was also held in which 212 cases were taken up and 23 cases were decided alongwith award for Rs 669430.
RAJOURI: A Lok Adalat was organized to celebrate National Legal Service Day in District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Chairman DLSA, Principal District and Sessions Judge. One bench was constituted, which was headed by OP Thakur CJM Rajouri and assisted by Meyank Gupta, District Judicial Mobile Magistrate (T) Rajouri. District Social Welfare Officer Rajouri also participated in the Lok Adalat and various Aadhar Card applications were settled in presence of beneficiaries.
70 cases both pre-litigation and post-litigations were taken up in the Lok Adalat out of which 55 cases were disposed off. A total of 10 MACT cases were taken up and 5 were settled and an amount of Rs 76,75,700 was awarded as compensation.
KATHUA: To celebrate the National Legal Services Day under the chairmanship of Pawan Dev Kotwal, Chairman DLSA. The function was attended by Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Additional District and Sessions Judge Kathua, Yashpal Sharma CJM Kathua, Aarti Mohan, Secretary DLSA Kathua, Deputy Kumar, District Mobile Magistrate Kathua and Rekha Nichal Munsiff Kathua.
On the occasion, Pawan Dev Kotwal threw light on the importance of the day. Yashpal Sharma, Chairman TLSC Kathua also expressed his views.
The vote of thanks was presented by Deputy Kumar, District Mobile Magistrate Kathua.
On the occasion, a special Lok Adalat was held in ADR Centre, in which two Benches were constituted. The first bench comprised of Pawan Dev Kotwal, Principal, District and Sessions Judge Kathua and Jatinder Singh Jamwal, Additional District and Sessions Judge Kathua, whereas the second Bench comprised of Yashpal Sharma, CJM Kathua and Deputy Kumar, District Mobile Magistrate Kathua.
A total of 40 cases were taken up out of which 22 cases were settled. A recovery of Rs 2,75,000 was also made in favours of the banks.
Tehsil Legal Services Committee Basohli, Billawar, Bani and Hiranagar also organized programme on “National Legal Services Day. A special Lok Adalat was also held at TLSC Hiranagar. TLSC Bani organized a camp in collaboration with Social Welfare Department wherein more than 150 persons enrolled themselves for getting benefits under various social welfare schemes.
PULWAMA: Legal Services Day was observed at District Court Complex here under the chairmanship of Altaf Hussain Khan (Munsiff JMIC) Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Pulwama.
Large number of people including panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers attended the function. The participants were briefed about the efficacy of the legal services day and PLVs were asked to go door to door and identify the persons who are in need of Legal Services and be advised to approach District and Tehsil Legal Services Authority/Committee.
ANANTNAG: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) celebrated Legal Services Day at ADR Centre District Court Complex here.
In this connection, a Legal awareness programme on the topic “Free Legal Services” was also organised. The programme was presided over by Principal District and Sessions Judge Anantnag Parvaiz Hussain Kachroo and programme was conducted by Secretary District Legal Services Authority Anantnag Rafia Hassan Khaki. The programme was attended by newly proposed Retainer Lawyers, PLV of the district and new entrants at Bar.
Secretary DLSA Anantnag gave a detailed presentation about the aims and objectives of celebrating the Legal Services Day.
Chairman DLSA Anantnag Parvaiz Hussain Kachroo interacted with the lawyers and PLVs and impressed upon them to work hard with compassion for weaker sections of the society.
