JAMMU, Nov 11: Different education institutions celebrated ‘National Education Day’ to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad by holding different programmes across the Jammu division.
The Central Sanskrit University celebrated the National Education Day by organising a function in the Campus, Shri Ranbir on the theme “Changing Curriculum, Changing Education”, wherein the chief guest of the function was Acharya YS Ramesh, Department of Education, Central Sanskrit University, Jaipur Campus.
The guests of honour were Dr Amitash Ojha of Jammu IIT’s Skill Centre and Dr Rishiraj, HoD B.Ed Department. The program was presided over by Director Prof. Madan Mohan Jha.
While addressing the audience, Prof YS Ramesh said that Maulana Azad was one of the major freedom fighters of independent India and he was the first Education Minister of India and his invaluable contribution towards the nation is always remembered. He played an important role in strengthening our education system with his experience and efficiency. The program started with Vedic and Lokik Mangalacharan by Dr Anay Mani Tripathi and Praveen Mani Tripathi.
NSS unit of GGM Science College celebrated the Day under the patronage of College Principal Dr Rajesh Gupta and guidance of NSS PO Dr Deepali Mahajan on the theme “Changing Course, Transforming Education.” An interactive session was held in the College campus wherein the NSS volunteers took part in group discussion about the new education policy based on four pillars including access, equity, quality, and accountability.
The Day was also celebrated at Govt College of Education Jammu to commemorate the birth anniversary of independent India’s first Education Minister Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The students of B.Ed. and M.Ed. recalled the contribution of Maulana Azad in taking up the challenge of making India literate at that time when India’s literacy rate was only 12 percent. In the inaugural session, Principal, Prof. Aekta Gupta elaborated on the role of education in the contemporary context.
The program was convened by Dr Rajinder Kour, M. Ed. Coordinator.
To mark the birth anniversary of Maulana Azad, Department of Education, GDC Marh observed the Day under the guidance and leadership of College Principal Prof Rakesh Kumar Koul. A bonanza of colourful activities including poster-making on NEP-20, Rangoli making, power-point presentation were presented by the students on the education system in India.
The programme was organised by Dr Ashu Jolly (HoD Education) and coordinated by Dr Shakun Sharma (HoD Sociology).
The Day was also commemorated by the Department of Education, GDC Vijaypur holding debate competition. The coordinator of the event was Renu Malhotra, Department of Education who welcomed all the participants and instructed them for debate competition. She also briefed about the importance of the Day and remembered the contribution of the first Education Minister of India.
The Department of Education GDC Kathua celebrated the Day enthusiastically in the College premises. The function started with a welcome note given by Prof. Kumari Roma. She formally welcomed the guests of function including College Principal Prof. Sumnesh Singh and senior faculty members Prof Seema Malhotra HoD English, Prof Rajkiran, Prof Jasvinder Singh HoD Physics, Prof Rakesh Jasrotia HoD Chemistry, followed by Prof Ritu Bhagat gave a brief note on the Day.
The students who participated in the function also shared their view over the event by Ishan Malhotra, Diya, Tanu and Chetana Bhaga.
The Day was also celebrated at GDC Darhal by holding a function wherein the contribution of Maulana Azad was also discussed by the faculty members and students. The event was conducted under the guidance of College Principal Prof Mussarf Hussain Shah.
Dr Ahsan Ul Rehman Rizvi, HoD Arabic said that as an educator, a motivator, a guide and a leader, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is a real icon of knowledge, inspiration, motivation and wisdom for all of us. He also threw light on the contribution of Maulana Azad for betterment of the Indian educational system after independence. The event was coordinated by Prof. Tehir Mahmood (HoD English).
