JAMMU, Oct 23: After the National Commissions for Backward Classes and Scheduled Castes, the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes has also issued notice to Central University of Jammu for alleged violation of reservation policy and other safeguards for STs by the university.
Issuing notice to the Vice-Chancellor CUJ and asking him to submit the information on the action taken on the allegations within 15 days, the National Commission for STs has announced inquiry into the matter.
In the notice, the Vice-Chancellor has been warned that in case the Commission does not receive reply from him within the stipulated time, the Commission may exercise the power of Civil Court conferred upon it under Clause (8) of Article 338A of the Constitution of India and issue summons for his appearance in person before it.
As previously reported by the Excelsior, the National Commission for Backward Classes and National Commission for Scheduled Castes have already announced inquiry into purported violation of Reservation Rosters by the CUJ and issued notices to the university.
