National Colloquium in ‘Business & Management’ begins at IIM Sirmaur

SIRMOUR (HP), Dec 18: IIM Sirmaur inaugurated its 1st National Doctoral Colloquium in “Business and Management” today.
The three-day event serves as a platform for aspiring researchers to understand the intricacies of research work and publishing. Further, the objective is to broaden their mindset in the right direction and hone skills with regards to their area of research. In addition to this, participants will engage with national and International scholars in a relatively informal environment which is conducive for meaningful and constructive research communication and exchanges.
The event was inaugurated by Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Director – Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur. In her address, she emphasized upon the importance of the event in terms of the contribution and impact that management researchers can have on the policy execution. She urged the participants to identify problems prevailing around their regions and leverage the inferences from their research to address those issues of basic nature. She talked about the relationship and interconnectedness between management education, research and the policy and stressed upon the value of applied research with emphasis on upliftment of community development.
Prof Amandeep Dhir, Faculty of the University of Helsinki, Finland, is the lead resource person for the Colloquium and will be interacting and mentoring the researchers over 3-days conference. Speaking on the occasion, he explained how this event will unfold and would help students to network and build newer social connections. He talked about his journey while pursuing PhD, publishing papers and being faculty at one of the top institutes of the country. He elucidated the agenda of the event stating that it would be an open problem-based learning methodology through the programme.
The group of participants have been selected through competitive process who are currently pursuing research in institutions like IIM Indore, IIM Kashipur, IIM Rohtak, IIT Kharagpur, IIFT Delhi, FMS Delhi, IIIT Allahabad, Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA) Ahmedabad, IRMA Anand, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad, NITIE Mumbai, BITS Pilani, Chandigarh University etc. Over the three days, various aspects ranging from stages and requirement of academic writing, reviewing process, factors influencing acceptance of any academic article, theory development etc shall be deliberated upon.
Prof. Vikas Kumar and Prof Pradipta Patra are the Colloquium Chairs of the 1st National Doctoral Colloquium in Business and Management.
