Sir,
As a college going student and a freelance photographer, I’m very well aware with roads and streets of Jammu city. As a photographer, I keep walking through every road and area thus, witnessing daily happenings of common people. As a student I travel a lot in matadors too that has helped me in getting acquainted with grievances and sayings of people and transporters about the management of roads by the administration. Amphalla to Janipur road is one of the busiest roads in Jammu city and because of its narrowness, it witnesses heavy and long traffic jams, especially during winters.
The road is divided into two ways, yet the space is very restricted and the partially constructed dividers add to the problems of the transporters and other vehicles. There are lots of cuts between them and drivers that lack patience tend to drive through the wrong side thinking they will change to their own lane on the next cut. Sometimes they make it and rest of times they end up creating a huge traffic jam that takes hours to clear. At the night time these dividers turn into deadly objects. Recently a local matador carrying passengers at night time while coming from Amphalla to Janipur drove straight on the divider damaging the front of the vehicle and turning it into a statue (immovable), because of their less visibility in the dark the dividers have more chance of being the reason for accidents. There are no reflectors installed on them nor are they well colored. On a narrow and busy road like this, there must be proper bus stops, because nothing halts the movement of traffic more than a matador waiting on the road for passengers. The administration must take care of this matter as soon as possible because the smooth and swift movement of traffic results in punctuality and punctuality is a key to a good and well off nation.
