SRINAGAR: A Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) local leader had a narrow escape while his Personnel Security Officer (PSO) was injured in a militant attack on Thursday afternoon in the city outskirts, official sources said.
However, a police spokesman said the condition of PSO was stable and a massive hunt has been launched in the area to nab the militants responsible for the attack.
Sources said said militants attacked a BJP leader Mohammad Anwar Khan at Balhama Khanmoh in the city outskirts.
However, two PSOs of the leader repulsed the attack. They said PSOs also retaliated adding the militants managed to escape. One of the PSO was injured in the attack.
However, the leader escaped unhurt in the attack. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a massive hunt to nab the attackers, they said.
A police spokesman said the policeman injured in the attack was absolutely stable. He said PSO exhibited extreme care and caution while repulsing the attack.
There was no collateral damage and the area is under cordon and searches were being conducted to nab the militants. No militant has so far claimed responsibility for the attack. (AGENCIES)
