REASI, May 30: A grand Nari Shakti Sammelan was organized here today under the aegis of SAKSHAM, bringing together nearly 700 women from diverse fields.
The event celebrated the strength, contribution, and leadership of women in society and emphasized their vital role in nation-building and in supporting persons with disabilities (Divyangjan).
The chief speaker, Abhye Pargal, Rashtriya Sah-Sachiv, SAKSHAM, highlighted the significant role of mothers, sisters, and daughters in nurturing, supporting, and empowering Divyangjan and stressed the need for greater awareness and sensitivity towards their needs.
The programme was presided over by Adv Rashi Baru, Chief Legal Aid Defence Council, District Court Reasi, who spoke about the legal rights of women and Divyangjan.
Devyani Rana, MLA Nagrota, stressed the need for equal opportunities, quality education, and self-reliance for women.
Mukand Tibrewal, SSP Reasi, assured continued efforts towards ensuring a safe and secure environment for women.
Dr Sanyogita, Dy Superintendent, Super Speciality Hospital Jammu, spoke about the importance of early support and rehabilitation services for Divyangjan.
Ajay Sharma, Prant Sah-Karyavah and Seva Samuh Palak, stressed the importance of social service and collective responsibility towards empowering women and supporting Divyangjan. Swami Vishwanathan, Uttar Kshetra Sangathan Mantri, SAKSHAM, highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of women in Indian society. Dr B D Sharma, Sanrakshak, SAKSHAM J&K, spoke on the need for creating accessible opportunities for Divyangjan.
Advocate Pawan Dev Singh, Pradesh Adhyaksh, SAKSHAM Jammu & Kashmir, emphasized the organization’s commitment towards empowerment of women and welfare of Divyangjan. Rekha Devi, Pradesh Mahila Pramukh, SAKSHAM, highlighted the leadership role of women in transforming society.
During the Sammelan, Nari Shakti Awards were presented to Tamanna Thakur, topper of Government Degree College Reasi; Shakti Sharma for her contribution towards the promotion of Dogri art and culture; Reetu Thakur, recipient of the State Best Teacher Award for her services in the field of education; Priyanka Verma for her contribution in the field of Kala Setu; Ridhima Thakur for securing 98.4 percentile in the Commerce stream; Jyoti Devi for winning an international Karate award in Sri Lanka; Nidhi Sharma and Laxhmi Devi for their service as social activists; Bhakti Katoch and Awantika Devi for their outstanding academic achievement; and Anita Kumari, a National Awardee, for her exemplary work in self-entrepreneurship.
The programme was also attended by Kuldeep Raj Dubey, MLA Reasi; Saraf Singh Nag, former DDC Chairman Reasi; Sunil Singh, State secretary Saksham, Prem Pal Singh, OD Atri and others.
