RAMBAN, Sept 17: Chanderkote police arrested a narcotic smuggler along with four kilograms of poppy straw (bhukki).
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Chanderkote police station laid a naka and intercepted a Swift Dzire car bearing registration number HR13B-7008.
During checking, police team recovered 4 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver on the spot.
The accused has been identified as Ranjeet Singh, son of Mithu Ram, a resident of Punjab.
He was trying to smuggle the consignment of narcotics from Srinagar to Punjab, but his nefarious designs were thwarted by the Chanderkote police.
A case under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Chanderkote police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Chanderkote police station Vinod Kundal made the arrest under the supervision of SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
