NEW DELHI: While advising members to be precise and stick to their allotted time during the discussion, the Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday advised the members to confine their speech within the given time by the Chair.
He also advised members to refrain from talking to each other during the discussion as it disrupts the proceeding of the House. “If it is important, you can go out with the fellow member and come back after the discussion”, Mr Nadu said.
However, a member said that the Upper House is not a school, Mr Naidu promptly replied that it would have been better had it been a school as disciplinary action would have taken in that case.
A BSP member sought 10 minutes to speak on the motion of the thanks to the President’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament, the Chairman granted him only three minutes and observed:” I am sorry, the people have given you this much time only”.
